Introduction.
Jan G. Marque was born in 1968 and works since 1989 as a professional writer and painter. He’s the initiator of the art-form the Philosophical Realism.
The Philosophical Realism is an art-form where word and image are combined, with the main purpose to stimulate people into philosophising about subjects. The subject itself is not depicted or described.
Moreover he paints classical realistic landscapes according to the tradition of the independent Dutch landscape art, what started with the work of landscape painter Joachim Patinir.

It's a pleasure to show you my work.
I was born in 1968, and from the beginning of my artistry I combined word and image to propagate the meaning of the different subjects. I accomplished it through my photography- art and pen & ink drawings. But because the drawings took up a lot of time to finish I started to look at another medium.
From 1996 I have put aside my pen and camera to focus completely on the medium of oilpaint. This self- study resulted in multiple experiments of materials and the application of it. A study of pigments, oils, resins, additives, grounds, and tools. These first steps were followed by the different paint recipes and making paint. All these things were time-consuming, but necessary occupations, which led to the final results as I present them to you today.
I decided at the age of nineteen not to go to an academy, but to search my way as a born artist myself. Already when I was eight years old I was drawing outside and got educated by artists I met. As a result of this I got my first exhibition at the age of eleven. In 1989 I decided to become a professional artist. Ever since that time I have exhibited my work over 70 times in the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium. And several galleries represented me at art events in the Netherlands and Germany. In addition to it I was chosen twice for the finale- selection- day of the worldwide contest of Art-link international and Sotheby's and in 2003 I had a totally subsidized museum for six months with a retrospective exhibition. In 2006 I started to give lectures in the Netherlands about my Philosophical Realism. A lot of people visited these lectures, and the responses are also very positive.
In 2003 I was asked to participate in a long radio interview on Radio Drenthe (the Netherlands) about my Museum Jan G. Marque at Elim (the Netherlands) and over the years good reviews has appeared in Dutch daily newspapers, such as: Het Zaans Dagblad, Het Dagblad van het Noorden and De Brabantse Courant.
Between 2007 and 2011 my work has been published in various media; in the journal of the Dutch Theosophical Society in response to a lecture about my work which I gave on their members day, there is an article published about my work with full color illustrations in the renowned art magazine "Realism 2008" from Jovert Art Magazine, a major article in the magazine for members of The Dutch Freemasonry, a number of times in the art magazine "Moving Art Magazine" and an article about my "Magus Lux Lucis" in BRES Magazine Issue 264. In addition, in 2010 I have given a radio interview on FunX radio (the Netherlands).
In 2011 my romantic landscapes were exhibited in museum C.M.C. Cultureel Maçonniek Centrum "Prins Frederik " in the Hague. A part of this collection is in 2012 transferred to the city museum of Doetinchem for a new exhibition.
