A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away.
Art Wars part 2.
Attack of the coneptual Clones.
The Dark-side of the arts, the Modern Art movement, was ready for their next move. By declaring their ruling art as part of the first galactic Empire, they had tightened their grip on the art market. And while the universe was shrouded in a vortex of hopelessness, the force of the old era seemed to be ancient history to most people. It had happened only decades ago, but a lot of them had proven to be short-sighted towards the events that had passed their eyes.
The Empire wanted to spread the concept of their despotic art even further. And to succeed in this total subjection of the Modern Art concept, the Dark-side started controlling and dictating their submissive subjects even further. Under the leadership of some unknown Dark lords, the Dark-side started to write different art manifests to create groups. With mind control these contents where placed in the sub-consciousness of most conceptual artists.
Once infected with these implemented thoughts, almost all conceptual artists wanted the blessings of the Dark lords, so they willingly joined a group and signed the manifest. Mostly not knowing what they had signed, they pledged allegiance to the group and her manifest. By doing so, they drove themselves even further into the arms of the Dark-side, and turned into suitable clones for the Empire. Resistance became futile.
One after another they fell into the trap of the Dark lords, and from that moment on, the main objective of every clone was to create only original concepts. Even ones personal style, or technique was considered a concept from now on. And the one who became well known first with a new concept, never seen before, would get a place in the Modern Art history. The rest would only be seen as second rank followers.
This started a chain reaction all over the galaxy, not to be seen since the industrial revolutions. Every clone started to create new concepts. Some even more original then the other. The propaganda machine set out by the Dark lords was simple; if one artist before him painted dots, then he would paint stripes to show a new concept. The one after him started smearing paint, or was gluing things on his canvas. And once this Star-destroyer was set in motion, it looked like it couldn’t be stopped anymore.
The conceptual clone wars that followed shortly after, where fought even bloodier then the one against the arts of the old era.
The plan of the Dark lords worked. Not only clones, but also non-related Dark-side conceptual artists slowly joined the fight. And within decades the Modern Art market was bio-chemically satiated with concepts.
Even though it looked like wars of opponents. Soon the few remaining artists of craftsmanship, style and talent would discover the painful truth of the conceptual clone wars…….
And when the turmoil reached its highpoint, the prophecy remained of the one who would bring balance to the force. Although the whispers began to sound louder, the time wasn’t right yet……….
